About Mikella Maughan, CPA
— Texas —

Nice to Meet You.

I have been a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy since 2002. Having graduated from the top-rated University of Texas McCombs School of Business with Bachelor of Business Administration and Master in Professional Accounting degrees, I opened my own practice to help small businesses in the often intimidating realm of accounting and taxation.

What I Do

It’s my sole focus to help private practice therapists – counselors, social workers, and psychologists – with your accounting and taxation needs so you can concentrate on running your small business and helping your clients. Please see my ‘Services’ page for more information about how I can help you with:

Your CPA Partner for a Thriving Therapy Practice

Helping clients heal and grow is wonderful, but running a successful therapy practice demands more than serving others’ needs. It involves managing your finances effectively. As a CPA with extensive experience and expertise in supporting private-practice therapists, I help you streamline your bookkeeping, reduce tax stress, and create a financial plan for your small business to thrive. Whether you’re just starting out or have been in business for years, I can be your partner in building a highly profitable therapy business that supports your professional aspirations while providing you with personal peace of mind. I’ve made it my mission to help the helpers.

Who I Help

I specialize in providing accounting services tailored to private practice mental health professionals, including:

  • Therapists
  • Counselors
  • Psychologists (Psychotherapists)
  • Psychiatrists
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs)
  • Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs)
  • Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs)

Beyond the Numbers

Here are some totally unprofessional tidbits about myself and what I’m up to when not crunching your numbers…

#1 – I love blueberries, and when they’re in season I’ll easily indulge in a pint a day.

#2 – In elementary school I asked my mom at the end of each school year to check out next year’s math book for me so I could learn it on my own over the summer – you know, for fun!

#3 – One of my most meaningful pleasures is volunteering to scan lost pets and reunite them with their worried humans.

#4 – If I had to choose only one food to survive on for the rest of my life, it would definitely be ice cream.

#5 – I have 3 dogs, including a 120-lb Labra-Dane who *loves* yummy acorn season.

If you’re a private practice therapist in Texas and need a CPA to help with your small business bookkeeping, accounting, taxes, and advisory, please contact me for more information.
